yeah well its a task, my work aera is normally T town, but on breaks I'm relocated to birmingham. I have a verbally abusive father which led me to my minor in Crimnal Justice. but my calling is with kids who have it worse than me. We are not liked and are covered in misconception and fucking ignorant assumptions. We are here to keep kids right to well being in place. worst part about the job is that less than 10% of our reports actually come from the victims, most of our work comes from those who are close to them. weather it be friends, teachers, police, or other adults. to clear up what we do, example one.
abusive father, with kids and a wife. once a report is filed, a field agent (me) will do a follow up. we try to make sure its not at home, somewhere like school, or populated pubilc place. if the report is accurate than we move on to step two. isolate problem, which for this example is the father. this can be a long or extremely short process. we have to go on solid evidence or plenty of non-tangable (circumstantial). one police report is enough in step two for action to be taken. but for this example no one from the family has ever called 911 for help, so no police reports on file. step three. field agents normally two, for our own protection, and normally a radio car (police unit) will pay a vist to the residence. if anything is deamed unfit or unsafe for the kids in any way the problem will be removed by us and the police. now for this example the abusive father owns the home and everything in it. we can't detain the father for any more than 24 hours. but that gives DHR enough time for the victims in this case to safely move to a new location. we have houses ready 24 hours a day, or go to a friends house untill step five is compleeted. for this example the victims choose the go to a friends. the father will have in hand by the end of the 24 hours a restraining order issued by DHR for the victims. also the local police will be notified and are put in charge of saftey for the victims. 9 times of out 10 the father will break the restraining order and skip step four, which is easier on us. step four. new residence is set up and victims move, DHR provides saftey during this time with both field agents and police to ensure saftey. during this time the father has to follow to the letter the restraining order. failier to do so will land him in jail and also void his court appearence to fight DHR's case. step five. court. 8 times out of ten DHR will win the court case, and then its gravy. victims are settled in, abusive father remains under a restraining order for up to two years and the restraing order stays on his record.

we try to speak for the victims and try and help them as much as the law allows us to do. however we can't help if nobody asks. those who need help seldom ask, those who want it, seldom say it, and those who wish for it, never speak about it.

SPEAK UP. we can't hear your thoughts wishes or prayers. all it takes is a report. we can go from there. minors have the leagle right to well being. state and federal law. your having problems at home with abuse, call 911. the Police department in every county and every city alike are serious in keeping kids safe. so are we. we are contacted by police everyday to follow up on abuse and domestic disturbances. we can and will help you. but fucking ask! don't sit there and act like the problem will go away....cause it doesn't, and it gets worse. the worst thing you can do, both for you and everyone else is say nothing. and if you should choose to do so. fine. but rest assured we can't help you when it gets bad. SPEAK UP!
